Large-scale switchgear which is over 25 years old is beyond its design life and maybe showing signs of wear and tear which can compromise the safety of the equipment. All owners of this type of equipment have a statutory duty under the Electricity at work act 1989 to carry out such maintenance so as to avoid danger.
This equipment is also a single point of failure for most businesses, which on failure will cause all work to stop and therefore disrupt commercial activity catastrophically.
Laycotech can carry out a full survey of all your switchboards and motor control Centres (MCCs), detailing their condition, required remedial works and maintenance.
From this survey we can create a test and inspection schedule which would tell you:
All fully tested equipment will be issued a certificate certifying the equipment for onward use.
Laycotech can provide visual inspection and thermography inspection complete with a full report for each piece of equipment.
Laycotech can provide a full inspection and test of your switchboards and Motor control centres to ensure they are safe and provide you with proof of meeting your duties under the electricity regulations.
Whilst the Testing requires a complete shutdown of the Switch Board, MCC etc. we will work with you to schedule a shutdown at the most suitable time required for minimal disruption to your business.
Thermography is a safe and non-invasive way of inspecting your electrical and mechanical equipment.
Laycotech can provide a full thermographic service for all your electrical equipment from large scale switchboards to small individual motors.
Laycotech will carry out thermographic imaging of your equipment and provide a full report showing the equipment’s condition and any problems or concerns the imaging shows. The report will include recommendations and advice on the equipment’s use and further maintenance requirements.
Laycotech can provide visual inspections of all your electrical equipment. This can be carried out alongside a thermographic inspection or as a standalone inspection.
Visual inspections are non-invasive and are a good way to quickly assess the condition of an electrical asset such as a distribution board, switchboard, motor control centre or electrical motor. A visual inspection report would be issued after the inspection noting the condition of the asset, its likely age, wear and tear and the suitability of the environment it is situated and operating within. These Inspections are carried out whilst your company conducts “Business as usual”.
